Children got the chance to take their learning outside of the classroom when they visited a local church.

The Year 4 pupils from Park Road Community Primary School travelled to St Mary’s Church to talk to Rev Jeremy Tear about sacrifice in religious life, as part of their RE curriculum.

During the visit, the children asked Rev Jeremy their key question of 'Is sacrifice an important part of religious life?'. The pupils were told about individuals who gave up their lives for others including Jesus and Maximilian Kolbe.

They explored how the cross is a symbol of sacrifice and drew some different crosses that they found around the church.

Class Teacher Katy Cunliffe said: “Thank you to Vicar Jeremy and St Mary's Church, the children really enjoyed their trip to the church and were able to recognise that sometimes they sacrifice things they love for someone else.”

What a great trip!
