Year 2s are hoping to make the most of the summer weather in their brand new outdoor area.

The new space outside their classroom has been developed with the help of Park Road Community Primary School’s PFA. And the children themselves have also been planting flowers and vegetables as part of their gardening club and science curriculum.

Year 2 now have a comfortable outdoor reading area to help encourage a love of reading, a work space to allow them to take their studies outside and lots of new planting beds to not only brighten up the space but also to use for learning.

The children have enjoyed the opportunity to grow their own produce, taking pride in nurturing a variety of vegetables, wildflowers, and sunflowers and learning more about how they grow.

Class teacher Kathryn Quigley said: “We are hoping for lots of sunny days ahead so we can continue to enjoy working in the outdoors. Thank you so much to the PFA for their help and support!”

Great work everyone!
