Famous book characters were brought to life at Park Road Community Primary School, when the children dressed up for World Book Day.

All classes got involved in the yearly national event which aims to promote reading and a love of books.

Among the costumes this year were The Cat in the Hat, Paddington Bear and Willy Wonka!

Teacher Elsie Robertson, said: “We had a wonderful celebration of the journeys reading can take us on during World Book Day! We explored the reasons why we read, took time to discover new books in our library, and created artwork that 'made our mark' inspired by the book 'The Dot' by Peter H. Reynolds.  Everyone looked fantastic and loved celebrating the joy of reading!”

Well done everyone!
