Celebrating World Religion Day with unity and creativity

Children at Park Road Community Primary School marked World Religion Day with a number of activities designed to explore different beliefs and celebrations.
World Religion Day takes place each January to promote understanding and peace between all religions, as well as mutual understanding and tolerance between people from different backgrounds.
During the day, the school focused on activities linked to our key values of tolerance, peace, respect, understanding, unity, and the importance of knowing and appreciating other people’s thoughts and beliefs.
Each class created their own Unity Tree, with every child designing a leaf containing wishes for peace and common values that they had gathered throughout the day.
As part of the day, our younger children in Key Stage 1 focused on a religious story linked to their current learning. Year 2 children also created Mehndi patterns and Reception pupils focused their learning on Buddhism.
Our older children in Key Stage 2 explored a range of religious celebrations and festivals, with Year 5 taking an in‑depth look at the Hindu Holi festival.
Great work everyone!
