Children at Park Road Community Primary School are already making the most of a new Sensory Garden which was built over the summer holidays with the help of funding from the PFA.

With its vibrant array of colours, aromatic herbs, and engaging features, the Sensory Garden is set to stimulate all the senses as the children adventure into the new area over the coming months.

Visitors can run their fingers through the petals of various flowers, listen to the gentle rustling of leaves, inhale the fragrant scents of flowers and herbs, and watch as it changes through the seasons.

Headteacher Kathryn Quigley, said: “The Sensory Garden is a huge highlight of some of the work that has been taking place around the school. We have to give special thanks to the PFA and Kelly Harrison for her tireless work putting it altogether, and Mrs Parkinson for organising this, as well as Mr Finch who is currently busy making it chicken proof!”

During the holidays the school also had a new playground covering, the hall was painted and had a new floor put down.

Mrs Quigley added: “Over the next few weeks, markings will be going onto the playground and we will be having new equipment installed to replace our KS2 adventure trail. I know the children will absolutely love it—I might even have to have a go myself!”

Look out for more news over the coming months!
